Our Team

We encourage you to pray
for the Nebraska Family Alliance team. Pray that we will continue to be a beacon of light, declaring the hope and truth of Jesus Christ as we stand for justice and strengthen families in Nebraska.

Al Riskowski – Executive Director

Al Riskowski has been the executive director of Nebraska Family Alliance since 2001.  Prior to becoming executive director of Nebraska Family Alliance he served as a pastor for over 25 years in churches across the Midwest.  Al and his wife Linda were married in 1972 and have raised four children.

Al currently serves on the Governor’s Task Force on Human Trafficking and a Nebraska Legislative Committee to craft laws fighting this hidden crime.

Al continues to educate and be a voice at the State Capitol on issues related to the family. He is committed to mobilizing, educating and equipping Nebraskans to be engaged in the transformation of their communities.

Karen Bowling – Outreach and Operations Director

Karen owned an interior decorating business in Lincoln, Nebraska for 25 years before bringing her business management skills to the NFA Team in 2001.

Karen’s passion is networking and community outreach. She established NFA’s state-wide Intercessory Prayer Network that now reaches over 1,500 individuals and organizations in 275 Nebraska communities. She is the State Coordinator for the National Day of Prayer and provides daily leadership for the Nebraska House of Prayer located in the NFA facility. Karen coordinates NFA’s grassroots efforts, volunteers, special events, and lobbies for sanctity of life concerns.

Karen has two adult sons, a daughter-in-law, and four grandkids that keep her busy, laughing, and young at heart. She enjoys speaking, volunteering at her church and mentoring young women.

 Joe Neuhaus – Policy Director

Joe joined the NFA team in December of 2014.  He considers the family to be the most important societal unit and is blessed to be able to advocate for public policy that will strengthen Nebraska’s families.

Joe served as Legislative Aide for Nebraska State Senator Lydia Brasch after graduating from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2013. Joe attended undergraduate school at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and majored in theatre. (By the way, he did cheer for the Huskers in the 2014 Holiday Bowl against USC.)   Joe and his wife Vanessa, who married in 2010, have two daughters, Penelope and Josephine.

In his spare time, Joe wishes for more spare time.  He enjoys volunteering at his church, spending time with his family, watching Husker and Trojan football, playing basketball, and reading.

 Hallie Hamilton – Communication Coordinator

Hallie graduated from UNL in 2012 with degrees in Political Science and Communication Studies and joined the NFA team shortly thereafter. Her role at NFA is to edit and produce our daily radio programs, help with grassroots mobilization, and help keep the office running smoothly.

Hallie is passionate about political philosophy and finding effective ways to communicate difficult issues in the public square. Her faith in Christ affects every aspect of her life. Hallie likes to appreciate the little things: bike rides in the fall, sipping a cup of coffee on the porch, running with friends, competing in the occasional triathlon, and spending time with her husband, Phil.

Margaret Alberts – Administrative Assistant

Margaret earned her BAE  from Wayne State College and served as a secondary mathematics educator and coach.  She has also served the Lincoln community as a high school administrator as well as a firefighter and paramedic.

Recently, Margaret developed a heart for missions. She has participated in six missions trips to Siberia, Ukraine, and Moldova and engages in language study. She is passionate about prayer, preserving healthy family systems and empowering people to achieve their full potential.

Margaret’s interests are Bible study, photography, walking and hiking in the mountains. She enjoys time with family and friends, volunteer work, movies, and games. Margaret is joining the NFA team with a heart full of love and hands that are willing to do whatever is necessary.
