Freedom of Conscience

Our religious liberties are more than just the right to believe what we choose; they are priceless freedoms bought with the lives of countless American citizens.

Samuel Adams, one of the signers of our Declaration of Independence, said that “Religion and good morals are the only solid foundation of public liberty and happiness.”

It is up to us to protect, exercise, and defend the liberties our forefathers left us.

The liberty enjoyed by the people of these states of worshiping Almighty God agreeably to their conscience, is not only among the choicest of their blessings, but also of their rights.

-George Washington
