Assisted suicide endangers the weak and vulnerable, corrupts the practice of medicine and violates human dignity and equality. The compassionate choice is to treat illnesses and end pain, not prescribe death.
Advocates of doctor prescribed suicide call it “aid in dying,” “death with dignity” or as in Nebraska, “Patient Choice at End of Life.” These types of policies want to make a prescription for a deadly dose of drugs just another “end of life option” for the terminally ill.
But the reality is that these policies endanger the weak and vulnerable, corrupt the practice of medicine, compromise the family, and violate human dignity and equality.
The compassionate choice is to treat illnesses and end pain, not prescribe death. Nebraska Family Alliance is committed to opposing legalizing assisted suicide in Nebraska and across the country.
