As our team prepares for 2024, we expect a battle unlike anything our state has seen before. The lives of every baby girl and boy in Nebraska yet to be born are hanging in the balance.
Shortly after the historic passage of legislation protecting babies at 12 weeks gestation, abortion activists launched a ballot initiative called “Protect Our Rights,” seeking to create a “right” to abortion until birth in Nebraska’s State Constitution. If voters approve this in the 2024 election, all pro-life protections will be stripped away, and the health and safety standards for women in abortion facilities will be eliminated.
Our state has become a battleground because the abortion industry believes that if they can succeed in Nebraska, they can succeed anywhere. Since the overturn of Roe v. Wade, seven other states have faced abortion-related ballot initiatives. Each time, the pro-abortion side won because outside money poured in, and the abortion industry spent millions of dollars to mislead voters.
However, Nebraska is a pro-life state, and we know that every human life has intrinsic value. Life is a gift from God, and women and their babies deserve real care, love, and support.
Several ministry partners were so inspired by our strategy, they offered to donate $150,000 to our pro-life defense fund if we raise $300,000 by midnight on December 31st. This gift is the largest match we’ve ever received because our ministry friends know that Nebraska can be the first state to stop this culture of death.
