Several harmful bills that threaten marriage, family, free speech, and religious freedom are all scheduled for committee hearings on Wednesday, March 1st—and we need you to take action.

Please take a moment to submit a quick online comment in opposition to each of the following bills by 12:00 PM (CST) on Tuesday, February 28th. Every comment makes a difference!

It is essential that state senators hear from the second house in defense of marriage, family, and truth.

LB 179: Forces counselors to affirm transgenderism and same-sex attraction in children

    • Requires licensed counselors and psychologists to counsel in favor of transgenderism and same-sex attraction in children or lose their license.
    • This bill engages in viewpoint discrimination, violates the free-speech rights of counselors, and forces children down a one-way path to transition. A counselor shouldn’t be used as a tool to impose a government-mandated view on their patients.

LB 169: Sexual orientation and gender identity protected class

    • LB 169 undermines constitutional freedoms, targets small businesses, and gives men who claim to be female unfettered access to intimate places designated for women, including showers, locker rooms, restrooms, and women’s shelters.
    • These laws force citizens and organizations to violate their sincerely held beliefs and are used as a sword against people of faith rather than a shield against discrimination.

LB 316: Replaces “Husband and Wife” with “Spouse 1 and Spouse 2”

    • Erases the words “husband and wife” from Nebraska marriage laws and requires all couples be listed as “Spouse 1 and Spouse 2” on their official marriage license and marriage certificate and not “Husband and Wife.”
    • Marriage matters in society because moms and dads matter. The way the state treats and recognizes marriages makes a difference. The state should not diminish the importance and truth about marriage by eliminating the terms “Husband and Wife.”

    • LR 26 CA undermines the truth about marriage that was placed in the state constitution by over 70% of voters.
