Religious freedom is a fundamental human right. But too often the free exercise of religion is facing increasing restrictions from government, and individuals and organizations are being singled out because of their religious beliefs.

LB 774 would protect all religions, mainline and minority, by establishing a clear standard to ensure religious freedom is not infringed by government and that the government cannot treat religious organizations worse than secular businesses during a pandemic or state of emergency.

By putting these protections into law, this bill ensures that churches and the religious freedom rights of all people are always protected.

LB 774 will be heard in committee soon, and your voice is needed to help support the bill. Would you take two minutes to submit an online comment in support of LB 774?

Chairman Brewer and members of the Government Committee,
    • Religious organizations provide essential services that are vital to the health and welfare of the public. Not only do religious organizations meet the spiritual needs of our populace, they also support social services, mental health, health care, and economic activity.
    • LB 774 ensures that government cannot treat religious organizations worse than secular organizations and would protect all religions equally by providing a balancing test to ensure that religious liberty rights are not infringed by government.
    • The government has a duty to uphold the First Amendment, and it should never be allowed to single out religious organizations with extra regulations.
    • LB 774 will ensure that religious organizations receive equal treatment and citizens of all faiths cannot be discriminated against by the government because of their religious beliefs.
    • This is an issue of great importance to me. LB 774 is a good bill that will protect the religious freedom rights of all Nebraskans.
I respectfully encourage the Committee to advance LB 774. Thank you for your time and for considering my request.
