For years, Nebraska Family Alliance has led the charge to help protect privacy, safety, and fairness for girls’ sports in Nebraska.
Today, we are excited to announce the launch of “Fairness for Girls,” a ballot initiative to permanently enshrine protections for girls’ sports into the Nebraska Constitution.
Last year, a bill was signed into law to protect girls’ sports, but Nebraska’s current law is statutory, not constitutional, which can be modified or repealed, as opponents are promising to do.
Males have physical advantages over young girls—higher muscle mass, bone density, and testosterone levels—which gives them a clear advantage. Girls lose opportunities for scholarships, medals, and advancement when they’re forced to compete against boys.
Privacy, dignity, and safety are fundamental rights of every Nebraskan, and “Fairness for Girls” will enshrine protections for girls’ sports into Nebraska’s constitution.
This isn’t just about sports—it’s about fairness, safety, and truth itself. No girl should ever lose her opportunity to compete for championships and scholarships to a man.
Signatures from 10% of the state’s registered voters must be collected by July for the initiative to qualify for the 2026 General Election ballot.
Be on the lookout for petition circulators for “Fairness for Girls” in your area, and stay tuned for upcoming opportunities to sign and help circulate petitions.
If enough signatures are collected to qualify for the ballot, every voter in Nebraska will get to vote on protecting girls’ sports, and, if approved, Nebraska will be the first state in the nation to provide constitutional protections for girls’ sports.
Nebraskans support preserving opportunities for young girls, protecting female athletes’ safety, and keeping the process fair. But we must continue to lead.
This is about standing for truth, and together, we can preserve fairness and opportunities for the next generation of girls in Nebraska.
