Today, we are grateful to share an important victory in our ongoing work to protect children and strengthen families across Nebraska.
LB 978, a key NFA-supported bill to combat the online abuse and trafficking of children, was successfully amended into a Judiciary Committee priority package last night and advanced through the first round of debate by the full legislature.
There are more websites hosting child sexual abuse material in the United States than in any other country in the world. Victims are being monetized by commercial websites, where videos of the abuse can be replayed over and over again, with no accountability.
This is one of the darkest and fastest-growing evils in society today, and we set out to do something about it.
This groundbreaking legislation will empower victims with a new civil right of action that, for the first time, allows them to sue websites that host and profit from this vile content, hold perpetrators accountable, force the removal of illegal content, and recover damages for harm.
This is one of the most significant steps that has been taken to combat the online sexual exploitation of children in the entire country, and your support makes it possible.
Every child is worth fighting for. That’s why we are investing in the next generation and equipping young leaders with truth, courage, and conviction.
As we enter the final stretch of the legislative session, we ask for your continued prayers. Please pray for wisdom and courage for our state senators, and for strength and discernment for our team as we work each day to defend and advance family, freedom, and life in Nebraska.
Thank you for standing with us.
