Capitol Connection Episode 132

“One of the Most Totalitarian States in Human History” – How to Respond to the Religious Freedom Crisis in China

Religious freedom is being undermined and oppressed around the world. As Christians, we need to come together to support, pray, and advocate for those being persecuted for their faith. And it starts with being informed.

Millions of people are currently being persecuted by the Chinese government because of their religious beliefs.

Citizens are closely monitored using advanced facial-recognition technology. Churches have been demolished. Pastors imprisoned. And religious minorities are being thrown in concentration camps where they face torture, forced abortions, and having their organs harvested by their own government.

Arielle Del Turco, research assistant for international religious freedom at the Family Research Council, states in her new issue analysis that: “A strong case can now be made that the People’s Republic of China (PRC) has become one of the most totalitarian states in human history. Numerous states have killed tens of millions of people—as has China. Yet, the PRC is distinct because it has the technological tools of a modern information-based society to enhance its iron grip on its own people. No state has had the capacity, which it uses, to control the thoughts, words, and actions of its own people.”

On this week’s Capitol Connection Podcast, learn about the religious freedom and human rights abuses taking place in China that should be making international news every day, and hear Arielle Del Turco’s insight in an exclusive interview on religious persecution in China and how the U.S. Government and individual citizens can respond.
