Capitol Connection Episode 49

Sen. Theresa Thibodeau Introduces Bill Aimed At Closing Bottle Club Loophole

Nebraska’s newest state senator, Theresa Thibodeau, brings a passion for protecting children and family values to the Nebraska legislature. On day one she introduced LB747, an NFA-supported bill that seeks to close the “bottle club” loophole.

The “bottle club” loophole creates unacceptable safety risks for Nebraska families. It allows business establishments where patrons can bring their own alcohol to operate without oversight from the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission or the Nebraska Liquor Control Act.

These clubs operate like bars or nightclubs except they’re exempt from common sense health and safety regulations. In addition, bottle clubs permit entrance to minors, can feature fully nude dancing and permit patrons to have contact with dancers. LB747, as introduced by Senator Thibodeau, will ensure these establishments are held to the same standards of conduct as any bar or tavern.
