[spp-player]

Nebraska and Iowa share more than just a border. When it comes to strengthening families and defending life and religious freedom in the Heartland, Nebraska Family Alliance and The Family Leader are both helping lead their respective states as part of the national movement to restore the foundation of our nation: the family.

In this week’s Capitol Connection Podcast, Bob Vander Plaats, President and CEO of The Family Leader (NFA’s ally in Iowa), joins the program to discuss the Iowa Senate’s recent vote approving a “Heartbeat Bill,” which bans abortions after a heartbeat can be detected.

Hear more about this historic vote as well as the latest insight on the proposal to construct a casino in Carter Lake, Iowa, on Nebraska’s side of the Missouri River, in this week’s episode.

Bob Vander Plaats is President and CEO of The Family Leader. His leadership and voice for the family is frequently noted and his comments are widely requested by a vast array of national and international media outlets. The Wall Street Journal, Fox News, and many others have referenced Bob as “Kingmaker” due to his influence in Presidential elections, while Bob prefers the designation of “Standard Bearer.” Bob received his Master’s and Specialist’s Degrees from Drake University in Educational Leadership. He is a recipient of Northwestern College’s (Iowa) “Distinguished Alumni” in the area of professional achievement.
