Nebraska Family Alliance (NFA) announced the appointment of Nate Grasz as its new executive director, effective January 1, 2025. Nate, who has served as NFA’s policy director since 2016, will succeed Karen Bowling, who is stepping down after 24 years of transformative leadership.
Under Karen’s direction, NFA has become one of the state’s largest pro-life and pro-family organizations and a leading advocate for Biblical values, achieving landmark victories for life, religious freedom, and parental rights. Her legacy includes growing the organization’s outreach and building a foundation for generational impact.
“At the start of this year, I sensed the Lord’s guidance that it was time to pass the torch to the next generation of leadership,” said Karen. “Nate is a man of character, competence, and courage, uniquely equipped to lead NFA into its next chapter. I am confident that under Nate’s leadership and with a combined 32 years of experience across our team, NFA will continue to influence our state for the good of our neighbors.”
The NFA Board of Directors expressed deep gratitude for Karen’s service and vision, noting her lasting contributions to the organization’s mission. Board President Jay Huston wrote, “Karen leaves a remarkable legacy of influencing policy, mobilizing prayer, and empowering people, and we look forward to the coming years under Nate’s leadership as we continue working to advance family, freedom, and life in Nebraska.”
As policy director, Nate helped lead major pro-life and family policy initiatives at the State Capitol, including the successful passage of laws protecting unborn babies from abortion, prohibiting transgender surgeries on children, combating human trafficking, and safeguarding religious freedom.
Nate hosts The Nebraska Family Alliance Report, a weekly radio show and podcast on Bott Radio Network, and is a frequent guest speaker at churches teaching on faith, politics, and Biblical worldview. He is the author of Would the Pilgrims Still Come to America Today? The Deteriorating State of Religious Liberty in America, and his writings have been published by National Review and The Washington Examiner.
Prior to NFA, Nate was an associate producer for the nationally broadcast Hugh Hewitt Show and a program and policy analyst at the Centennial Institute. Nate graduated from Colorado Christian University with degrees in political science and business administration and is an alumnus of the Alliance Defending Freedom Arête Academy.
A fifth-generation Nebraskan, Nate has served on the Board of Directors for Gambling with the Good Life and the Elder Board at Citylight Lincoln Church. In 2024, Governor Jim Pillen appointed Nate to serve on the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Chief Justice of the Nebraska Supreme Court.
