A Nebraska teacher accused of hiding a video camera in a girl’s locker room is facing a non-jury trial with 15 counts against him including unlawful intrusion, possession of child pornography and manufacturing a visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct.
Rahe has plead not guilty to the charges. Regardless of whether Rahe placed the camera or someone else did, this is a dark reminder that there are those who take advantage of vulnerable women and girls and it can happen anywhere.
There is a constitutional right to bodily privacy—to not be viewed unclothed by those of the opposite sex. When women and children are forced into an intimate setting like a restroom or locker-room with a biological male, this right is automatically violated whether that person poses a threat or not.
Policymakers and school administrators should be making it more difficult, not less, for biological males to access women’s restroom and locker-rooms.
