On February 14th, when the Lincoln City Council passed a sweeping ordinance that could be used to criminalize speech and violate women’s bodily privacy, Nebraska Family Alliance mobilized quickly.
Within hours of the vote, we filed a referendum petition, trained over 330 volunteer petition circulators, and began gathering signatures to repeal the ordinance or put it on the ballot.
Today, Monday, February 28th, is the last day for Lincoln voters to sign the petition, and we need your signature!
The Lincoln City Charter only gives us just two weeks to collect over 4,000 signatures, and signatures must be collected by 6:30 PM on February 28th.
Please visit our office at 1106 E Street, Lincoln, NE, 68508, to sign the petition and return petition sheets. Our office is open today from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
Notaries will also be available at our office from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM to notarize returned petitions. Petitions must be returned no later than 6:30 PM tonight.
Every person should be treated with dignity and respect. Unfortunately, coercive sexual orientation and gender identity ordinances undermine fairness and freedom.
This 67-page ordinance affects virtually every public space in the City of Lincoln, from churches and private schools to your gym and local swimming pool. Women and girls have a right to bodily privacy in locker rooms, showers, and bathrooms, and Christians should not be threatened with devastating fines for exercising their First Amendment freedoms of speech and religion.
It is time for us to stand up against the radical activists wanting to silence Christians and shut down conscientious business owners with recurring fines and civil penalties.
