Mobilizing Prayer
Life and liberty flourish when a country is grounded in faith, humility, and dependence on the Lord. As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, we pause to celebrate our founding values and seek God’s wisdom and mercy.
NFA Executive Director Nate Grasz represented Nebraska at the National Gathering for Prayer and Repentance in Washington, D.C., with our nation’s top elected leaders, including House Speaker Mike Johnson and Majority Leader Steve Scalise, to lead a prayer for our state and nation.
Your faithful prayers and support are making a national impact. Nebraska Family Alliance will be back in our nation’s capital this April to co-sponsor the America Reads the Bible event, the largest public reading of Scripture in U.S. history.
Marriage Matters
Nebraska Family Alliance joined Focus on the Family, Family Research Council, and over 40 state and national organizations to launch the Greater Than advocacy campaign—an effort to advance Biblical marriage and the well-being of children through education, public policy, and judicial action.
The 2015 Supreme Court Obergefell v. Hodges decision disregarded the will of voters nationwide and redefined marriage and parenthood at the expense of our children. Every child deserves a mother and a father, protection, and the opportunity to thrive. Mothers and fathers are essential, and no adult desire or ideology can change that biological reality.
“In 2000, Nebraska Family Alliance led a successful statewide ballot initiative to define marriage as one man and one woman in the Nebraska Constitution, which overwhelmingly passed by 70% and still stands today,” said NFA Communications Director Marilyn Newland. “The battle for marriage is not over, and we are committed to protecting the rights of children and strengthening Godly marriages as the cornerstone of strong families and thriving communities.”
Marriage is a sacred institution that exists not merely to recognize adult relationships, but to unite a husband and wife and provide children with the love, stability, and guidance only a man and woman can give. When marriage is redefined or diminished, it is children who bear the greatest cost.
“When the needs of children are neglected, it’s not just the children who suffer. Families are hurt, and society itself is destabilized,” said Jim Daly, President of Focus on the Family. “We see the tragic evidence of this all around us. And that’s why we wholeheartedly embrace Greater Than’s conviction that real progress means putting children’s needs ahead of adult desires.”
Advancing a Culture of Life
On Religious Liberty Day, Nebraska Family Alliance hosted faith, government, and ministry leaders at a special pro-life breakfast featuring Jason McGuire, Executive Director of New York Families, a sister organization of NFA.
McGuire was targeted and unfairly prosecuted by the New York State Attorney General for his bold, Biblical leadership, spending 53 days incarcerated while continuing to stand firm in faith and courage under fire. This politically driven persecution is a warning and a rallying cry for us to remain vigilant.
Nebraska remains a stronghold for family values because of your prayers, advocacy, and support. We will not back down from defending the right to life and advancing Biblical values. Together for life, we will ensure Nebraska is a place where God is honored, marriages and families thrive, life is cherished, parental rights are protected, and religious liberty flourishes.
