Each month, the Nebraska Prayer & Policy Report will provide you with specific prayer points relevant to current events, an easy-to-read policy update on the most important issues happening in government, and free educational resources for you and your family or ministry.

PRAYER UPDATE

Prayer is the foundation of everything we do at Nebraska Family Alliance. In prayer, we have the opportunity to partner with God for His plans and purposes.

We are called to pray for all who are in authority, and right now our state legislators, who are in the home-stretch of this year’s legislative session, need our prayers.

Our elected leaders aren’t just politicians, they are husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, grandpas and grandmas, friends, and neighbors. They face the same pressures we do every day, yet their public role means their decisions impact thousands.

March Prayer Points

- - Pray for state senators to have wisdom, courage, and discernment as they work through key bills and issues.
  - Pray for State Senator Joni Albrecht, the lead sponsor of LB 933, which will protect all human life by prohibiting all abortion the moment Roe v Wade is overturned, as she prepares to advocate for her bill before the full legislature.
  - Pray for the people of Ukraine, and for our Federal representatives and leaders as they respond to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

POLICY UPDATE

The Nebraska Legislature has transitioned to full-day floor debate, and with just 16 days remaining, senators are taking up major proposals including the state budget and how to spend a billion dollars in pandemic relief funds from the Federal government.

But more important than dollars and cents are the lives of unborn children – and our senators will soon be debating the biggest pro-life proposal ever introduced in our state legislature.

LB 933, the Human Life Protection Act, will protect the right to life for every child in Nebraska by providing that when Roe v Wade is overturned the performance of an abortion will be an illegal act.

The bill provides an exception to save the life of the mother, and no woman who obtains or seeks to obtain an abortion can be prosecuted, only abortionists who intentionally end the life of an unborn child.

Senator Joni Albrecht, the lead sponsor of LB 933, has filed a “pull-motion” to get the bill out of the Judiciary Committee and to the full legislature.

Next week, state senators will have the opportunity to debate and vote on the pull motion. We will need 25 votes in favor of pulling the bill out of committee for the motion to be successful.
