Nebraska Family Alliance has taken action to support marriage as the union of one man and one woman by signing an Amicus Brief submitted to the US Supreme Court by CitizenLink.
An Amicus Brief, or an amicus curiae brief serves to bring to the attention of the court information that is relevant to a case.* In this situation, the brief was submitted to the US Supreme Court in order to draw the Court’s attention to the true purpose of marriage: ensuring the well-being of children.

The brief contains two main arguments:
- Compelling evidence shows that children benefit from the unique parenting contributions of both men and women, providing a rational and compelling basis for states to continue to exclusively define marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
- Distinctive and complementary maternal and paternal parenting contributions are important to the cognitive development of children.
The US Supreme Court is expected to rule on the definition of marriage sometime this summer.
