A recently published expose from the Washington Free Beacon is exposing how the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) lied to parents when it claimed no outside activist groups helped draft controversial sex education guidelines.

According to internal documents obtained by the Washington Free Beacon, the State Board of Education and NDE employees tapped progressive activists with ties to Planned Parenthood to help draft the proposed Health Education Standards, while keeping anyone with opposing views out of the process.

“Emails and text messages from elected board of education representatives, NDE employees, and advisory board members show that activists were not only closely involved but disparaged parents and froze out teachers who were supposed to write the curriculum.”

These emails reveal what we have known to be true for months: while preaching inclusion and diversity to the public, behind closed doors board members and NDE staff were disparaging parents and excluding anyone who didn’t align with their agenda.

Nebraskans deserve better and expect accountability from public officials and tax-payer funded staff who put activist agendas ahead of parental rights.

In response to the proposed Health Education Standards and the increase in controversial content in schools, Nebraska Family Alliance is launching a new “one-stop shop” Education Resource Center for Parents.

We believe parents are the most important educators in a child’s life, and are providing free resources to help empower and equip parents to safeguard their child’s education.

Visit NFA’s new Education Resource Center for Parents and access free tools, including: a “Back to School Guide for Parents” on how to protect your child from inappropriate material and what to do when you find offensive or explicit books in your school, opt-out forms for controversial classroom lessons, alternative curriculum, school prayer guide, homeschooling resources, and more.

Every child deserves an education that is suited for their specific needs as guided by their parents, and one that is free from graphic sexual curriculum, the promotion of abortion, and politicized ideas about sexual orientation and gender identity.

Thank you for your support as we continue working to expose the truth behind the health standards, protect children, and defend parental rights in Nebraska.
