As the only state in the entire country with a unicameral legislature, in Nebraska, the people truly are the “second house.”
This means the citizens of Nebraska play an essential and influential role in shaping the policies that govern our state. You can directly impact which bills do and do not become law.
That’s why Nebraska Family Alliance (NFA) is dedicated to empowering people to stand up for faith, family, and freedom at our state capitol.
To help accomplish this, we’re releasing our 2022 Bill Tracker with a categorized list of the most important bills NFA is advocating for and against this session, a concise summary of what each bill would do, a link to read each bill, and information on how to contact senators—all on one convenient, easy to read resource page.
Engaging in the legislative process is an opportunity to honor God and show love to our neighbors.
In the coming weeks, we will provide testimony and work with state senators to advance bills that protect life, affirm religious liberty, strengthen parental rights, and provide children protection from harmful content and ideology. We will oppose proposals seeking to expand abortion, stifle free speech, and punish people who hold Biblical beliefs on marriage and sexuality.
Without Christian influence, government has no clear moral compass. As Christian citizens, we have an obligation to exercise such influence because decisions made by those serving in government have a substantial impact on people’s lives.
Government was God’s idea, and Christians should engage with it in a way that is consistent with its God-ordained purpose.
We can do this by committing to pray for all who are in authority and by leveraging our influence to advance laws, policies, and practices that support truth, justice, and the flourishing of our neighbors.
Thank you for your support as we advocate for family, freedom, and life at the Nebraska State Capitol. NFA will continue to keep you informed as the legislative session progresses and alert you of key opportunities to contact senators and make your voice heard.
