He is Risen. He is Risen Indeed!

Resurrection Sunday will be different amidst the COVID-19 virus outbreak. Houses of worship will celebrate virtually or host drive-in services, but the message of hope remains unchanged. The cross is where everything was finished and where everything begins!

Right before Jesus died, an eyewitness to His crucifixion wrote, “When Jesus had tasted it, He said, ‘It is finished!’ Then He bowed His head and released His spirit.” (John 19:30). The final words of Jesus were not words of defeat but of victory. In the presence of the Father, it was a cry marking the birth of a new covenant relationship between God and man.

If not for Christ’s willing death on the cross, you and I would still be dead in our sins. If not for His resurrection, we would not have the hope of glory. As a result of God’s most painful moment—upon the cross—you and I have eternal life.

Our world is hurting right now amidst the coronavirus pandemic. In my lifetime, I have never experienced the uncertainty of the day-to-day challenges before us. Every day we are inundated with more deaths, loss of jobs, and economic turmoil. With so much pain and suffering, I often wonder, “What can I do?”

This season, we have many opportunities to serve those in need and—most importantly—unite in prayer. Governor Pete Ricketts proclaimed Easter Sunday, April 12th, a Statewide Day of Prayer. Read the proclamation and join thousands of Nebraskans uniting in prayer.
