The NFA Daily Spotlight: Protect School Choice And Scholarships For Nebraska Students
With the passage of the Opportunity Scholarships Act, Nebraska became the 49th state to establish school choice and increase educational opportunities for Nebraska children. The Opportunity Scholarships Act created a tax credit for private donations to non-profit organizations that provide scholarships to children from low-income families to attend a school of their choice.
Immediately after the bill was signed into law, the teacher’s union launched a referendum petition to strip away parental rights and options for our kids. Jeremy Ekeler, Opportunity Scholarships of Nebraska, and April Garcia joined the NFA Daily Spotlight to discuss the importance of protecting school choice in Nebraska. April speaks from personal experience and shares the powerful impact school choice has had on her daughter.
Opportunity Scholarships of Nebraska raises funds using a dollar-for-dollar tax credit and provides resources and tuition scholarships to families. Every child learns differently and deserves the opportunity to find the best fit for their educational needs.
