Defending the Defenseless with Nate Grasz

This week, I discuss national and state legislative bills “Defending the Defenseless” with Policy Director, Nate Grasz. On Monday the U.S. Senate votes on U.S. Senator Ben Sasse’s Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, placing senators on the record as protecting these defenseless babies or not.

Next, Nate and I discuss state legislation beginning with the harms of LB 627 (SOGI law). If enacted this bill would make businesses and ministries defenseless against government punishment for refusing to make a same-sex wedding cake or requiring individuals to use the bathroom aligning with their biological sex. Another bill of concern is LB 423, it would allow abortion providers to become school-based health centers. They could then advertise and dispense contraception and abortion-inducing drugs to schoolchildren without parental knowledge. Finally, LB 516 ensures children being sold for sex are designated as “abused and neglected” even if their trafficker is NOT a parent or caregiver, so they can receive access to all services and support available.
