The NFA Daily Spotlight: A Woman’s Search For Redemption, Mercy, And Justice For Trafficking Victims

Cyntoia Brown Long joins the Daily Spotlight this week. At a young age, Cyntoia was ensnared into forced prostitution. One night in an act of self-defense, she shot and killed a man who had purchased her for sex. Tried as an adult and sentenced to life in prison at age 16, Cyntoia found God in prison and began living to honor him. She earned an associate’s and bachelor’s degree with a 4.0 GPA. After serving 15 years in prison, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam recognized the complexities of her case and her remarkable transformation, and he granted Cyntoia clemency.

Now a free woman, Cyntoia dedicated her life to advocating against sex trafficking and rescuing exploited women caught in situations similar to hers. With a shared mission, Rejuvenating Women operates out of Omaha and provides trafficked victims a safe, secure home to escape the cycle of human trafficking.
