The NFA Daily Spotlight: Celebrate Adoption Month

November is Adoption Month, and so this week we want to take time to reflect on our Biblical responsibility to care for the children in our communities, whose birth parents are unable to take care of them.

James 1:27 tells us, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”

Christians are answering this call in remarkable ways. According to a 2013 study by the Barna Group, Christians are 2x more likely than the general population to foster or adopt children. Christians are also more likely to adopt sibling groups, older youth, and children with special needs. Through adoption and foster care, God is using Christians to tangibly live out his command to love our neighbors and look out for the vulnerable around us.
