The NFA Daily Spotlight: Gambling Harms People

The government has a duty to protect Nebraska citizens from the harms of casino gambling. Casinos have frequently been identified as a common place for human trafficking. LB 461 seeks to provide support and resources to trafficking victims by requiring casinos to display posters about sex trafficking warning signs and contact information for the National Trafficking Hotline. Last week, we testified in opposition to several bills in the Nebraska Legislature that would dramatically expand gambling and legalize sports betting across the state. The proposed legislation would not only increase financial losses and gambling addictions, it would fundamentally change the way fans watch and participate in sports.

This week is National Marriage Week, and we’re celebrating the institution of marriage by honoring the men and women in Nebraska who have faithfully committed to each other. Nominate a Nebraska couple who has been married 60 years or more for the Nebraska Marriage Hall of Fame.
