I read my Bible this morning and left it sitting on my coffee table, not hidden under my mattress. While driving to the office I turned on the radio to listen to encouraging worship music, the Gospel going out across the airwaves.

When I arrived at the office, I hopped online to check the news and read an article criticizing the actions of our President – an offense which is illegal in some countries. A few weeks ago, I joined a prayer rally, right on the steps of our State Capitol.

The truth is that every day you and I enjoy freedoms that most of the world only dreams of. Freedom of religion, press, speech, rights of assembly and petition; the right to bear arms; freedom from unreasonable search and seizures; rights in criminal cases; the right to a fair trial and many others.


Today, we remember the men and women who sacrificed everything to defend these freedoms. As I take the time to consider all of our blessings, I am am filled with gratitude to all the service members of our military.

On this Memorial Day we can honor the men and women who gave their lives for our freedom by committing to vote for candidates at every level who will fight for and protect our freedoms and by teaching the principles of freedom to our children and grandchildren.
